Vehl Jhed is my name and this is my story. As a child I was always intrigued with the power of the Arcana, I would spend endless hours trying to tap into it's magical energies. Finally one day I did it, I was only a child in the eyes of my kind but yet I was able to tap into the Arcana. Sparks flew from my fingers, gust of winds at the wave of my hand, and levitating small object was only a fraction of what I believe I could achieve.
Of course my talent was quickly noticed and I was thrust into responsibility at a young age. All that filled my mind were thoughts of learning more about magic, touching the essence of the Arcana being able to do things only people would find miraculous. What I did not realize was that I had to leave my family behind, I didn't want to but soon there will be people who will come after me.
One day as I was playing with my friends I heard my mom's cry for help. I rushed towards my house to see my mother on her knees begging grabbing on to a grown man's cloak as if she were begging.
"Please not my son, he is too young!!!"
My body told me to run but I was frozen, I couldn't move my eyes affixed on to the man who had my mother on her knees. My mom noticed me looking and before she could shout he turned towards me and everything went dark.
It must have been hours, that I saw only darkness. I was not blind yet I saw nothing, I could hear but I heard nothing. Suddenly I felt sleepy and I finally succumbed to fatigue, forgetting everything that had happened today.
I heard a door slam and I slowly awoke, everything felt hazy and it didn't feel like home anymore. When I finally regained my bearings I realized I was in a room lined with beds some with children much older than me happily dancing in their dreams with the sandman. I didn't know where I was so I tip-toed out of bed and headed for the door, the room dimly lit by torches with flames which glow not like any fire I've ever seen.
Averting my gaze from the hypnotic flame I held the door latch tightly and tried to open with all my strength but to no avail. I could feel magic keeping the door from opening and it also kept outside noises from being heard inside. It felt like a prison...Afraid and alone in this new place I went back to the bed I woke up in and hid myself under the rough linen blanket that covered me when I was asleep.
I felt tired even though I just woke up from a long sleep awhile ago, I realized that the hypnotic flames were starting to take its toll on me. The more I looked at the flames the sleepier I get when finally my head once again hit the bed and all was quiet.
